Walla Walla High School Unveils Spirit Bell for 9/11 Remembrance

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Walla Walla High School will debut its restored Spirit Bell during halftime of the varsity football game against Lakeland High School on September 11, 2026. The bell, received from Walla Walla County Fire District 4, was restored by students in the Advanced Welding and Manufacturing program at SEATech. They fabricated a new striker and a custom trailer with help from community partners like Tom’s Cycle.

The bell, which last rang at Fire District 4's Mill Creek station in 1980, will now ring for Blue Devil pride. The halftime ceremony will honor first responders, military members, and veterans on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. The bell's debut marks a new tradition connecting the school's past with its present.
