Whitman Professors Join Walla Walla Middle School Prep Program

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Whitman College professors and students visited Walla Walla Public Schools' Bridge to Middle School summer program at Sharpstein Elementary on July 16, 2026, using interactive math games to engage students.

Marlen Perez, Walla Walla Public Schools' Multilingual Learner Program Supervisor, said the students were "fired up" by the experience. The program, designed for incoming sixth-graders, provides academic support in math and reading and includes hands-on enrichment activities through Sharpstein Elementary's 21st Century Afterschool Program. Nearly 50 students are participating this summer to prepare for middle school transition.
